MUNDO
Program Overview:
MUNDO is a student-focused learning community and organization committed to starting conversations that result in community-based service, ongoing learning, and engaged leadership.
Through activer participation in the Ohio State University Founding Chapter of MUNDO (Multicultural Understanding through Non-Traditional Discovery Opportunities) students will work toward the development of:
- A lifelong commitment to community engagement
- The ability to listen and learn from many different viewpoints and perspectives
- A willingness to take these cross-cultural skills and knowledge "to the streets" in terms of starting and engaging in conversations and actions that result in positive outcomes for all those involved.
MUNDO works closely with The Ohio State University Colleges of Arts and Sciences, the College of Education and the Office of Minority Affairs to help students develop their leadership and critical thinking skills as it relates to social justice and leadership.
Benefits of this program include:
- Gain a better understanding of the importance of how and why all individuals are interconnected whether we live in the same country or beyond.
- Opportunities to learn more about differing cultures through workshops, discussions, events and celebrations.
- Academic course credit for both an in-country service learning class, as well as a short term study abroad experience in London, England.
- An opportunity to participate in the OSU Nationwide Diversity Leadership Transcript Program (which provides students with an official record of their work with diversity related experiences while at OSU)
