Newark Campus

Newark Campus

Welcome to Ohio State’s Newark Campus!

As a new student, you have the opportunity to join the vibrant housing community on campus.  This website will guide you through the steps you need to take to complete your online housing contract.  Read the information carefully to become familiar with the questions you will need to answer during the online contract process.

The on campus housing spaces at Newark are assigned by a lottery system based on spaces which remain after the renewal process with current on campus students is complete.  The deadline for entering the Newark housing lottery is April 24, 2024.  In order to be included in the housing lottery, you must submit your completed contract (i.e. your signed contract as well as payment of $300 Space Reservation Fee and $50 non-refundable Filing Fee) to the Housing and Residence Education office by Wednesday, April 24, 2024 by 5:00PM.

The lottery will be held at the end of April.  After all available spaces have been allotted, we will continue to draw names and place students on a waiting list.  Typically the waiting list sees a lot of movement as students cancel, find alternate housing, or decide to commute.  Because of these reasons, our ability to house students who are on the waiting list varies from year to year- and is often unpredictable.  Contracts received after April 24, 2024 will be added to the waiting list in the order they are received.

As we receive cancellations, we will offer spaces to students on the waiting list.  If space becomes available for you, we will notify you via email and/or phone.  While on the waiting list, if you are offered a space and choose to decline the space, you will receive no refund of your Space Reservation and Filing Fees.

Please note that once you have accepted a space on-campus, the deadline to cancel your housing contract and receive 50% of your Space Reservation Fee ($150) is June 1.  There will be no refund of your Space Reservation Fee given after the June 1 deadline.  Cancellations after the June 1 deadline are subject to the Housing Release Fee, as described in the Terms and Conditions of your housing contract.  This fee may be waived only if another student accepts your space.

If you are still on the waiting list and are not offered a space by move-in day, August 17, 2024, you will receive a full refund of the Space Reservation and Filing Fee ($350).  However, should a space become available prior to the residence hall opening on August 17, 2024, and you choose to decline the offer, no monies will be returned.
