Creating the Extraordinary Student Experience: Office of Student Life

Graduate Assistants

Our graduate-level positions are offered as part of the Student Personnel Assistantship Program (SPA) as students work on their degrees in Higher Education in Student Affairs (HESA). The Master of Arts program in Higher Education in Student Life is a two-year program designed to meet the requirements for the Master of Arts professional preparation programs of the Council for the Advancement of Standards (C.A.S.) in Student Life. Graduate students interested in an experience with University Housing may be interested in an Assistant Hall Director position.

University Housing values a “theory to practice" approach. This framework is especially important in the context of the Assistant Hall Director position. We hope to provide you with experiences that will not only prepare you for a position in the housing field, but will also enhance your education. Our Assistant Hall Directors are live-in residence hall positions that assist with the selection, training and supervision of paraprofessional staff. They aide with student problem solving, referral and advising as well as the basic management of residence hall programs, support services and activities contributing to student development.

If you are interested in considering the School of Educational Policy and Leadership for your ongoing education, more information about the program and application procedures can be found at spa.ehe.osu.edu.

We are not currently accepting applications for the Assistant Hall Director position but may in the future.
