Residential Curriculum

Housing and Residence Education utilizes a residential curriculum to clearly define the outcomes we want students to learn while living on campus. A curricular approach is rooted in research, data and trends. Students are constantly evolving, and a curricular approach is better able to meet their changing needs.

We believe in providing more than just a place to stay for students. Living in residence halls is an educational opportunity which contributes to their overall collegiate experience. Our educational priority is for students to become self-aware and accountable in working towards a society which honors and advocates for all individuals. We intend to accomplish our educational priority through three Learning Goals: Personal Development, Considerate Communities and Global Responsibility.

  • Personal development is a student’s roadmap to identifying who they are, who they want to be and how to move towards an understanding of their place in society and the world they want to create. Through this residential experience, students will develop the tools and insight to continue along their path of self-discovery.???
  • Students living in considerate communities create interactive environments that enable students to engage in ways that fulfill their distinct needs. Students will learn to connect with people who have different values, worldviews and identities. This will allow students to apply these skills in situations in life and their careers as global citizens.
  • Engaging in global responsibility, students are cognizant of themselves and their cultural and societal impact in individual and group settings. Students who commit to global responsibility honor beliefs, customs and values by acting in ways that contribute to a society which honors and advocates for all.
