North Towers Renovation FAQ

- What is the project timeline?
Work is expected to begin following spring semester 2026. Taylor and Drackett Towers are scheduled to be available to students at the start of autumn semester 2028.
- What buildings are impacted?
Taylor and Drackett Towers will be renovated. Jones Tower will be demolished.
- What is the scope of the project?
Renovation of Taylor and Drackett Towers will address deferred maintenance of aging mechanical systems and infrastructure while improving the student living environment with several interior and exterior improvements. Plumbing systems, including domestic supply, heating, and sanitary lines, will be fully replaced. The main electrical distribution system will be upgraded, and sprinkler systems will be installed to meet current codes. Project scope includes a connection to the East Regional Chilled Water Plant to provide chilled water. Main entry levels will be reconfigured and renovated to provide better ADA access. Finishes will be updated on all floors to align with residence halls located in the district, enhancing the overall student experience. The project also includes the abatement and demolition of Jones Tower.
- How will this impact the north district (fencing, wayfinding, etc.)
We are at the beginning phases of planning, and we will share additional information when it is available.
- Will this impact the dining and recreation options on north campus?
We do not expect the project to have an impact on dining and recreation in the North Residential District.
- What master lease facilities is Ohio State partnering with?
Ohio State has entered into a lease agreement with Statehouse Highline at 1494 N. High St. near south campus in addition to our existing partnership with Statehouse Norwich and Statehouse Lane on north campus to accommodate upper-class students.
