Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Patients: What Can Nurses Do?

Time: Tuesday, April 6, 2021 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Location: Zoom

Join Nursing Students of Color and Take Back the Night as they discuss how nurses can better advocate for survivors of domestic violence. How should nurses communicate with these patients? How can nurses make these patients feel safer and more comfortable? What provides optimal experience(s) for the survivor? Are their suggested strategies and interventions fitting from the survivors’ point of view or are there better ways to care for this population of patients? Additionally, does race, religion, and/or culture play a role in how we care for these survivors? How might strategies for survivors of color be different? Join us as we welcome Sexual Assault Response Network of Central Ohio (SARNCO) and a sexual assault nurse examiner to learn how to address some of these questions!
