Halls:

The Engineering House Learning Community focuses on helping students explore the variety of major options within the College of Engineering. Participants have opportunities to interact with faculty, staff and professionals in the engineering community.

Possible majors include: Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering, Aviation, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Engineering Physics, Environmental Engineering, Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, Architecture, City and Regional Planning and Landscape Architecture.

Learning Community Highlights
  • Opportunities to explore different career options in the engineering field
  • Field trips and “behind the scenes” experiences related to the field of engineering such as meeting with engineers at Cedar Point Amusement Park and trips to the Center of Science and Industry
  • Opportunities to interact with faculty, staff and professionals in the engineering community
  • Programming and workshops designed to support the success of students in the engineering field
  • Social programs to enhance the student experience, including video game tournaments.
  • Collaboration with different LCs and Scholars groups to expand one's future professional network
How To Apply (New Students)
  • Students interested in being a member of the Engineering House Learning Community should have completed the Learning Community Application by April 17, 2017. No late applications are being accepted.
  • Housing Contracts are sent to your OSU email account based upon your paid acceptance to the University beginning in March.
  • Please make sure your contract and space reservation fee are received no later than May 31, 2017 in order to ensure your space in a learning community. 
  • On your contract, please make sure you select North Campus as your requested area of residence.
  • Please note all students in learning communities are required to reside in a space within the learning community and with other learning community participants. Learning Community students may only request roommates accepted into the same LC.
How to Apply (Current Students)
  • Current OSU students (those who will be sophomores for the 2017-2018 school year) interested in joining or returning to the Engineering House Learning Community should complete the Learning Community Application no later than February 1, 2017. Completing this application does not guarantee housing in an Ohio State Residence Hall or a specific room type.  You must submit your reselection form by the University Housing deadline in order to renew for housing at Ohio State's Columbus Campus.  Your housing reselection information will arrive at your OSU e-mail account at a later date.All students in learning communities are required to reside in a space within the learning community and with other learning community participants.
  • Change of campus students must also contact Housing Assignments no later than February 1, 2017 at 614-292-8266 or housing@osu.edu to ensure they are included in the reselection process and eligible for a Learning Community.
