Halls:

The Visual and Performing Arts Learning Community is for Arts majors and/or enthusiasts passionate about the Arts (music, theater, art, design and dance). The tight-knit community brings these students together to actively explore their specific artistic interests and develop a broader understanding of how the Arts continue to shape the world around us.

Learning Community Highlights

  • Hands-on opportunities to go behind the scenes of visual and performing arts-related professions through backstage tours, discussions with local and national artists and engagement with Arts faculty
  • Opportunities to experience and dialogue about the Arts locally, as well as nationally at artistic centers in New York and Chicago
  • Interactive discussions that explore how the Arts can be used to raise awareness and bring about social change
  • Unique professional development workshops focused on obtaining a successful career in the visual and performing arts

How to Apply (New First-Year Students)

  • Students interested in being a member of the Visual and Performing Arts Learning Community should complete the Learning Community Application by April 15, 2021. No late applications will be accepted. You do not have to wait until you are accepted to Ohio State and/or receive your housing contract to apply. 
  • Housing Contracts are sent to your Ohio State email account based upon your paid acceptance to the University beginning in March.
  • Please make sure your contract and space reservation fee are received no later than May 29, 2021 in order to ensure your eligibility to participate in a Learning Community. 
  • On your contract, please make sure you select South Campus as your requested area of residence.
  • Please note that all students in Learning Communities are required to reside in a space within the Learning Community and live with other Learning Community participants. Learning Community students may only request roommates accepted into the same LC.

How to Apply (Current Students)

  • Current Ohio State students who will be be in their second year during the 2021-2022 school year and are interested in joining or returning to the Visual and Performing Arts Learning Community should complete the Learning Community Application no later than February 1, 2021. Completing this application does not guarantee housing in an Ohio State Residence Hall or a specific room type. You must submit your reselection form by the University Housing deadline in order to participate.  Your housing reselection information will arrive at your Ohio State email account at a later date. 
  • Please note that all students in Learning Communities are required to reside in a space within the Learning Community and live with other Learning Community participants. Learning Community students may only request roommates accepted into the same LC.
  • Change of campus students should apply through this (the current student) application and must also contact Housing Assignments no later than February 10, 2021 at 614-292-8266 or housing@osu.edu to ensure they are included in the reselection process and eligible for Learning Community participation.
