The Visual & Performing Arts Learning Community is a community for artists or anyone who wishes to express creative ideas. Students will have an opportunity to literally "leave their mark" on their Residence Hall Community through wall murals, t-shirts and logo designs and programming that caters to their artistic needs. The community is for students passionate about one or more dimensions of the arts (music, theater, art, design & dance) and engaging with them in a community setting.

Learning Community Highlights
  • Group trips to local theater and dance performances
  • Interactive programs with faculty ranging from discussions of theatre to video game development
  • Exploration of all aspects of the arts including dance, design, art, and music
  • Annual travel program to New York City and Chicago to watch musicals, visit museums and meet alumni in the arts
  • Opportunities to engage in the arts around the Ohio State campus and Columbus community
  • Living in a community with students who take similar classes and share similar interests
 How to Apply (New Students)
  • Students interested in being a member of the Visual and Performing Arts Learning Community should have completed the Learning Community Application by April 17, 2017. No late applications are being accepted.
  • Housing Contracts are sent to your OSU email account based upon your paid acceptance to the University beginning in March.
  • Please make sure your contract and space reservation fee are received no later than May 31, 2017 in order to ensure your space in a learning community.
  • On your contract, please make sure you select South Campus as your requested area of residence.
  • Please note all students in learning communities are required to reside in a space within the learning community and with other learning community participants. Learning Community students may only request roommates accepted into the same LC.
How to Apply (Current Students)
  • Current OSU students (those who will be sophomores for the 2017-2018 school year) interested in joining or returning to the Visual and Performing Arts Learning Community should complete the Learning Community Application no later than February 1, 2017. Completing this application does not guarantee housing in an Ohio State Residence Hall or a specific room type.  You must submit your reselection form by the University Housing deadline in order to renew for housing at Ohio State's Columbus Campus.  Your housing reselection information will arrive at your OSU e-mail account at a later date. All students in learning communities are required to reside in a space within the learning community and with other learning community participants.
  • Change of campus students must also contact Housing Assignments no later than February 1, 2017 at 614-292-8266 or housing@osu.edu to ensure they are included in the reselection process and eligible for a Learning Community.
